Why learn to do Scottish Country Dancing?

What is Scottish country dancing?

Scottish country dancing (SCD) is a social form of dance, usually with 3-5 couples dancing in a ‘set’. Scottish country dancing is less frenetic but more demanding, physically and mentally, than ceilidh dancing.

However, once mastered, it is a rewarding, sociable, and interesting form of exercise for brain and body. There are SCD groups across the country and indeed in many corners of the world. Dances consist of a series of patterns or ‘formations’, some of which may seem complex at first, but are soon accomplished after a few repetitions.
